If you ‘re anything like me, then you like reading other mom’s blogs. I’ve been fascinated over the past few years from the wisdom, insights, and ideas I’ve received from other women I don’t know all across the nation! I’ve also been amazed at how tech-savvy other mamas are!
But for years I never once thought about having my own blog. Why? Simply because I assumed that I didn’t have the skills necessary to create one. I knew nothing of web design, and I had no idea how to even go about starting a website. I just figured that there were some moms that were just really good at this stuff.
But I learned something. I learned that every mom started exactly where I started. And every. single. one of them experienced a learning curve that enabled them to be where they are now.
On some of the mom blogs I’ve read, the mom is earning five, six, and even seven figures a year! I remember being baffled when I first learned that this was even possible. For the longest time, I seriously thought blogging was just a hobby!
I decided that I wanted to explore the possibility of earning a full time income from home as well. So this year, I took the leap into starting my own blog. I knew I would have a huge learning curve, but I was willing to take on the challenge.
And you know what?
I’ve thoroughly enjoyed it! I’ve invested in resources that have taken me step by step. Plus, I’ve been able to write posts with things that have been on my heart for years.
And I’ve loved every second of it.
What about you? Have you thought about starting a blog, but didn’t know if you should? Or maybe you think, like I thought, that you need to be tech-savvy to do so. Let me encourage you with this: my blog, which I didn’t think I’d ever be able to have, has now grown to over 18,000 page views a month and is well on its way to earning a full-time income!
Still not convinced?
Here are four reasons you should seriously consider starting a mom blog.

Reason #1: It will give you an outlet
Staying at home taking care of littles all day can have its challenges. Even if becoming a stay at home mom was the life you dreamed of, you can quickly realize that there were aspects of it you didn’t expect.
Some mamas I’ve talked to have confessed that sometimes they can feel purposeless at home, chasing around toddlers all day. They were often working mamas before then, and the transition to staying at home was more difficult than they expected.
I understand this feeling completely.
In fact, I remember when I only had my two girls at home and I was homeschooling. My husband would come home and I would feel kind of…resentful. And I couldn’t quite pinpoint why, but I knew it had to do with feeling like I never had a break.
When I started this blog in March, I realized that it gave me the outlet I needed to be able to express my heart. I love to talk about motherhood, pregnancy, and raising kids, and to have my own platform to do it has been a good release for me!
I’ve read stories of many other moms whose blogs gave them a creative outlet to be able to be expressive while still staying at home raising their little ones. And many of these moms are now earning a full time income doing this! Which brings me to my next point…
Reason #2: You can turn it into a full time income
The reason I was even inspired to get started in the first place was because of reading income reports from other stay at home mom bloggers. I literally couldn’t believe what I was reading. $3000 a month? $10,000 a month? $100,000 a month? It didn’t seem real!
After learning all the ways that bloggers make money, it started making sense to me. Vision began to form within me and I could actually start to see myself doing the same thing.
Now granted, blogging is definitely no get rich quick scheme. It takes a lot of time if you’re wanting to make an income, especially if you’re a stay at home mom! But the potential is there if you want to turn it into a full time income. That’s where I’m headed-join me!

Reason #3: It’s Cheap
If you’re inspired to make money off your blog, then you will end up treating it like a business. And no business that I’ve ever looked into has the inexpensive start up fee that blogging has!
With Bluehost, you’ll end up paying $3.95/month to get your website hosted, and they even give you a free domain name! In my opinion, there’s no other business out there that gives you the level of flexibility out there and the freedom to express yourself the way blogging does.
Once you purchase self-hosting, every other investment you make after that will be an investment in either your blog education or blog design. You don’t have to buy everything; bootstrapping as much as you can is definitely the way to go (at least at first). You can even start using WordPress and posting right after getting hosted!
Reason #4: You have a unique perspective
I know what you might be thinking by now.
If the thought of earning an income off blogging excites you, and if you’ve even become convinced that you might be able to actually become somewhat tech-savvy, you might still be held back by one question.
Why would I want to start a blog when there are so many other experienced people talking about the same stuff I would talk about…only better?
This was one of the questions on my heart when I debated whether or not I could actually do this. And after reading several blogs, I discovered something.
Every time I would read several posts on the same topic, I would always take something fresh away from each one. Why? Because everyone has a unique perspective, and no one will have the same perspective you have.
And let’s say you do end up saying a lot of the same stuff others are saying about a particular topic because it’s something that everyone in your niche knows. To me, I actually like when I’m learning something and I come across the same info over and over again because it helps solidify it in my mind.
So there. I think I’ve pinpointed all the reasons why you’d hesitate to start your own blog. 🙂 I’ve also provided reasons why you should seriously consider it. Why not today? 🙂
Thank you SO much for writing this! It spoke directly to my soul, my anxieties and doubts! I’m so pumped to keep reading your blog I can’t sleep! Haha! I’m a nurse with a 6 year old and 31 weeks pregnant with twins. My decision to become a sahm was solidified today when my company let me go bc of medical restrictions related to my pregnant. I’m excited to have the freedom to focus on my family, and I’ve wanted to blog for Years! I’ve never felt like I had a platform… a good niche that I would fit into…… Read more »
